For almost 150 years, giving or sending a card by mail has been a common way to congratulate a friend, acquaintance or relative on a particular holiday, anniversary or other joyful event. There are many varieties of such “letters without an envelope,” including those with a surprise. For example, an original musical postcard would be an excellent choice. Anyone who knows how to work with scissors and paper and is willing to show imagination and patience can make it with their own hands.

A little history

The first postcard appeared during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, when soldiers began sending short messages to their loved ones on postcards, accompanied by their drawings. Soon, publishers appreciated the commercial value of this idea and began to produce illustrated postcards of various contents, including those dedicated to various holidays. 120 years later, a musical postcard appeared in France. When such one-page cardboard books were opened, the contacts closed, causing the battery, speaker or microprocessor to play a melody. Printed products with a musical surprise immediately became very popular. For example, huge editions of musical cards for Valentine's Day or Merry Christmas were sold out very quickly.

Is it possible to make musical cards from February 23 or for another holiday with your own hands?

As already mentioned, the design of greeting books with electronic filling is extremely simple. Anyone can cope with their production, especially if you use a ready-made musical card and create a new design for it. It is also possible to create a book of congratulations, as they say, “from scratch.” For example, musical Valentine's Day cards can be made with your own voice declaration of love.

What will you need?

In order to make a musical card from the usual one for congratulating your mother, sister or grandmother, for example, Happy Birthday or Women's Day, you will need:

  • circuit;
  • scraps of fabric;
  • thick cardboard;
  • paper;
  • lace;
  • beads, rhinestones and sequins;
  • feathers;
  • scissors;
  • stationery knife;
  • stencils;
  • glue.

How to make a paper musical card: where to start?

First of all, you need to find a ready-made version that plays a suitable composition. After all, it will be strange if a postcard intended for congratulations on March 8 opens to the melody of the Happy Birthday song. Then the electronic filling should be removed from it. Next:

  • a rectangle of a suitable size is cut out of cardboard - the base of the postcard;
  • bend it in half;
  • leaving free space on the cover of the resulting book for a congratulatory inscription, they begin the decorating process.

Postcard decoration

To decorate congratulations on a musical surprise, leaves, butterflies or flowers are cut out of plain or colored paper using a stencil. Then:

  • glue a strip of lace of a contrasting color to the cover diagonally;
  • they “plant” butterflies on it;
  • lay out any suitable ornament with rhinestones or beads;
  • they write in outline “Congratulations on March 8th!” or “happy birthday!”;
  • leave the card to dry.

In general, those who want to learn how to make an original musical card should purchase a special kit for creating works using the scrapbooking technique, which is sold in any craft store. This will allow you to create an original greeting using fashionable vintage technology that will arouse everyone’s admiration.

The final stage of work

Those who ask how to make a musical card are primarily interested in how to make it “sing.”

To do this:

  • open the “little book”;
  • on the inside, a musical element is glued (secured with tape) so that it turns on when opened;
  • on top it is masked with lace or a suitable piece of fabric.

All! Now the card is ready, and your relative or friend will definitely appreciate the creativity of your congratulations.

Brutal option

Having figured out how to make “feminine” greeting cards, it’s time to try making musical cards for February 23rd.

A woven version using some kind of fabric with a camouflage pattern will look interesting.

The biggest problem will be selecting a ready-made postcard with the appropriate melody. If you can’t find it, then below is a way to make the card “sing” the desired melody. Next:

  • the sheet of cardboard chosen as the base is folded in half;
  • PVA glue is applied to its entire outer surface in an even layer;
  • glue scraps of fabric with a camouflage pattern;
  • make small holes and insert stars for shoulder straps (you can sew on a button with the coat of arms from an officer’s jacket or a souvenir button with a star);
  • stick on a chevron;
  • on the reverse side the musical element is secured with tape;
  • smear with glue and glue camouflage fabric so that the musical element is underneath it;
  • write congratulations on February 23 on a piece of paper;
  • stick to the inside of the postcard;
  • decorated around the edges with St. George's ribbon.

How to install the desired music theme?

If all sorts of wiring and microcircuits don’t scare you, then below are instructions from which you will learn how to make a musical card that plays a specific melody.

First of all, you will have to glue together a book-box with sides, inside of which you can hide the electronic filling.

The basis of the circuit is a board with an aP8942A microcircuit. It allows you to record a message or piece of music up to 42 seconds long.

The circuit is quite primitive, so any novice radio amateur can handle it.

For assembly you will also need a speaker with a resistance of 8 Ohms and a power of 0.5 W, 2 transistors KT315 and a battery GR2035 (the total voltage of both should be 6 volts), mounting wires, 4 multi-colored LEDs, as well as a button with contacts that open when pressed . A battery socket, if you don’t have one ready-made, can be made from a regular neck plastic bottle. Then a spring from the old remote control is inserted into the bottom of the plug. The threaded part of the neck is covered with a mesh made of copper wire, which plays the role of a second electrode.

You will also need a special device - aP89W24 USB programmer, which will allow you to record a melody you like or a voice message. It will be quite difficult to get it. In addition, it is not cheap, however, having purchased such a device once, you can use it repeatedly.

All that remains is to assemble the diagram as shown in the figure below, insert it into the postcard box and glue the postcard. Then you will need to decorate the souvenir in accordance with the holiday it is dedicated to.

Now you know how to make a musical card, and you can make an original surprise gift yourself to please someone close to you.

Thank you Congratulations_Online for wonderful sites.

My greatest desire was to learn how to make a musical card for a good mood and congratulations on the Internet. I learned, now anyone can send mine for free.

Later it was impossible to look at my first works without tears. It's a pity that I remade them as soon as I could make them better.

This is how I developed my own style and developed an understanding of beautiful music sites. Today I will share my thoughts and recommendations.

Nobody has ever canceled beauty, but what kind of postcards can be called beautiful? Why do we watch one many times, and watch the other and forget?

My series of musical postcards is called MUSICAL KALEIDOSCOPE.

Watch the video review

I open all the postcards that I come across on the Internet! And what are my feelings?

Sometimes I quickly close it because it’s just a set of pictures, although it’s possible that it’s related to the topic. It doesn’t make an impression, you don’t get satisfaction from viewing it, it seems similar to many others, you don’t want to save the link to look at it again later or send it to friends.

Even a set of pictures made in Photoshop by the painstaking work of the author may not even decorate the postcard at all. Why?

There are no mandatory elements inserted into musical cards; the more creative they are, the more unique and attractive the card is, of course.

However, there is one indispensable condition that must be present on any postcard.

Let's talk about how a musical card is not only unique, but also exciting, bringing joy and pleasure to viewing.

I understand that at the beginning of creative activity the quality may leave much to be desired. But what should be present on every card is harmony. There should not be a set of pictures; all of them together should give the impression of a single whole.

I’m not an artist, but by some intuition, I don’t leave the work until the postcard begins to represent a single whole, so that an outside viewer would not even suspect that it consists of separate pictures. Music, video and text should also be organically woven together.

It’s the same as an artist painting a still life, where different objects look harmonious as one whole, expressing some idea of the artist.

How do I create eye-catching musical cards?

I usually collect a lot of pictures, backgrounds and music on a given topic that I think would be suitable for this card. In fact, I end up with a lot of these components and I put them all in one folder. Then I look through the ones that seem most suitable at first glance and put them on the postcard.

I often start several projects of one card at the same time, and I end up with several options, at first only from pictures and working on all of them at the same time. This makes it easier to track which pictures to choose and which background they fit best against.
